Public Notice is hereby given that the Council of the Town of Grenfell intends to adopt a bylaw under The Planning and Development Act, 2007 to amend Bylaw No. 693-14, known as the Zoning Bylaw.

INTENT – The proposed bylaw will add and remove specific permitted and discretionary uses to all zoning districts, clarify regulations and provide some basic housekeeping amendments. Specifically, the bylaw amendment will add municipal facilities as permitted a use in all zoning districts, add places of worship, day care centres and pre-schools as a discretionary use in all residential districts, add residential care homes as a discretionary use in the Residential Multiple Dwelling District – R2, remove fertilizer sites as a permitted use in the Commercial/Light Industrial District – C2, and remove keeping of livestock as a permitted use in the Future Urban Development District – FUD. The amendment also addresses clarification of definitions, payment in lieu of required off-street parking, maximum sign size in the High Profile Commercial/Light Industrial District – HPC, and height of freestanding canopies in the High Profile Commercial/Light Industrial District – HPC.

REASON – A number of housekeeping amendments are required to be consistent with the Town’s Official Community Plan, other existing bylaws, as well as to accommodate existing uses which were not addressed in the adoption of Bylaw No. 693-14.

PUBLIC INSPECTION – Any person may inspect the bylaws at the Town Office between the hours of 9 a.m. and 12 noon, and 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding statutory holidays. Copies are available at cost.

PUBLIC HEARING – Council will hold a public hearing on November 16, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at the Town Office, located at 800 Desmond Street, to hear any person or group who wants to comment on the proposed bylaw. Council will also consider written comments received at the hearing (or delivered to the undersigned at the municipal off before the hearing).
